 If You Love This Planet is an award winning documentary screened in recognition of Canadian Environment Week. 

"Stealing A Nation" and “Breaking Ranks”
Tuesday, June 10 from 7:00-8:45 PM 
Stealing a Nation is a shocking film about the U.S. Military base on the island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. Breaking Ranks is a moving documentary that examines the current phenomena of US soldiers seeking refuge in Canada as part of their resistance to the war. In recognition of International Conscientious
Objectors Day. 

"Aristide and the Endless Revolution"

An important film about the US and French involvement in Haiti. Learn about Canada’s role in overthrowing
President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, the democratically elected priest of the
poor, in 2004. In recognition of Haitian Flag Day (National Day).

"Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers"

A shocking film about corporations profiting from war. Join us for a potluck
before the film.

Please join the Halifax Peace Coalition in our first book club. We will be reading and discussing the anti-war classic: "War is a Racket" by US General Smedley Butler. There willalso be a special screening of Conscience Canada's short-film "Work for Peace. Stop Paying for War". 

"War is a Racket" is a very important book written in 1935 - it could have been written yesterday. Can be purchased for
$10 at Outside the Lines Bookstore, 6297 Quinpool Rd, Halifax (902)
422-3544. There are limited copies there. Please buy in advance. You can
also buy it through Amazon www.amazon.ca please give yourself 2 weeks to
purchase it online.
